A classy tall shoe cabinet to fit small entryways

A classy tall shoe cabinet to fit into your entryway

I wanted to share this tall shoe cabinet hack I just finished.

I fell in love with a shoe tower from Restoration Hardware that they stopped making so I decided to make something similar. I bought a SEKTION high cabinet with 2 doors and 2 ASKERSUND cover panels. I assembled them as per instructions and added the cover panels to either side so the unit was freestanding.

  • SEKTION high cabinet with 2 ASKERSUND doors
  • 2 ASKERSUND cover panels
  • Drawer pulls, gold
  • Door handles, gold

Now I bought some drawer pulls from Amazon. For the 6 shelves, I measured 1 inch from the edge of each shelf and marked the spots where I would place the drawer pulls. I drilled holes and screwed in two drawer pulls on each shelf so my shoes wouldn’t fall out.

When placing the shelves into the high cabinet, I put them in so the back was one peg higher than the front. The shoes would be on a slant and easier to see. The drawer pulls stop them from sliding out the front.

Finally, I left the bottom section of the shoe cabinet open for boots (with no shelves) and then attached some beautiful handles on the front from Rejuvenation.

All done! Looks great, stores at least 12 pairs of shoes (not counting boots in the bottom cabinet) and slides into the tiniest of spaces.

Caution: Do secure the tall shoe cabinet to the wall to prevent tip over accidents. For instructions on how to anchor tall furniture to the wall, please refer to this guide from IKEA.
